Have you seen all the great press We women foundation has received over the last year? Stories about our students, our documentary, and our program activities have been featured in international outlets like the Daily Beast, Yahoo Shine and Just Means. We have also forged fruitful connections with local journalists that have resulted in the appearance of pieces about the foundation and women’s education and empowerment in regional newspapers, including Democratic Voice of Burma, the Irrawaddy, and Mizzima News. Behind all of these awareness building successes is We women foundation’s incredible public relations expert, Andrea Perez!
We are taking this time out to celebrate Andrea’s great work for We women as she sets off to begin a new career adventure in Burma. Andrea came to us after having spent ten years cultivating her communications and public relations expertise in New York City. During her tenure at We women foundation, Andrea deftly increased the foundation’s reach on social, print and online media, allowing the work of our students, staff and volunteers to reach a wider and more engaged audience. Andrea’s commitment to enhancing We women’s mission has been evident in all of her efforts on behalf of the foundation. Her passions have engaged journalists, editors, and other key partners, leading to great success in sharing our mission and work.
Inspired by Burma’s exciting development and challenged by the many issues people there face, Andrea’s next move will take her to Yangon. In her new public relations role, Andrea will again be furthering the causes of women in Burma and drawing heavily on her experience at We women foundation.
We are of course sad to see Andrea go. However, we are incredibly proud and excited to see another We women volunteer making a splash in Burma. We can’t wait to see what great accomplishments Andrea is able to achieve in Yangon!
